BGHC Community News (September 2025)

Happy September, BGHC

I want to start by saying thank you for continuing to support BGHC's Summer of Impact fundraiser. Your financial contributions allow this organization to continue to work in communities all over North America and the globe. With your help, the BGHC team continues to share our stories, build community spaces, give away funds and equipment to athletes, and work at all levels of hockey to make this sport truly for everyone.

This summer I was asked by a colleague if the negative climate around DEI in the USA has affected Black Girl Hockey Club, and if I'm honest, BGHC has felt the impact not only financially, but in how we are able to do this work. Did you know there is a list of words not to use in Federal grant applications that includes "Black", "women" as well as the "D" the "E" and the "I" in DEI?

If you can, please donate, because we cannot support the hockey community without you. We can't send this newsletter, give away game tickets, or organize activities without your financial assistance. Every dollar counts, but if you cannot share your funds, please donate your time, your social capital, and your voice to tell folks about the powerful work we do here.

BGHC is for the people, and I truly believe the people are for BGHC.

Thanks, fam.
Renee

Demand Continues to Grow for Upper Deck's PWHL Hockey Cards

BGHC's own Dan Harbridge wrote another great article for The Hockey News on what's in the newest set of cards released last month, building upon the success of the PWHL First Edition.

Given the cards' popularity, the article hints at what to expect in future editions as well as the overall dynamics between Upper Deck and the PWHL.

Such an insightful article ahead of a new season. Read all about it below!

BGHC Ticket Donation Form

We often get requests to donate tickets to hockey games and other events. To streamline this process for everyone, we have a Ticket Donation Form.

Your gracious ticket donation does not have to be limited to hockey and goes towards our scholarship recipients and broader community getting to experience the game we love in person!

Please bookmark this form for ease of access. Thank you in advance!
